Tampa TV viewers learn the Malaysian way to eat better, starting with healthy cooking oils

Registered dietitian Felica Stoler visited the studio of Tampa-based WFLA-TV for an interview inspired by her recent trip to Malaysia. Throughout her time abroad, she noticed two prominent differences between American and Asian cuisines: portion sizes and the use of healthy cooking oil. While she also encouraged viewers to monitor their meal sizes, she listed a slew of reasons for which Malaysian palm fruit oil is an important addition to a healthy diet. Full of potent antioxidants such as beta carotene and vitamin E tocotrienols, this oil is versatile thanks to its neutral flavor profile. Recent research has studied the impact of tocotrienols in helping the brain recover from stroke damage, improving heart health and slowing cellular aging. Malaysian palm fruit oil is an ingredient in many common products such as Smart Balance and Nutella. It can be purchased at Whole Foods and ethnic food markets.

Felicia Stoler is a member of Media Relations Inc.’s panel of highly respected third-party experts. She is compensated to express her own professional opinions, through the media, about certain products.
