caring for your skin

Feel good about caring for your skin with this super protector

Warm weather is finally here. But before you go out and enjoy it, be sure you are protecting your skin from the sun’s damaging UV rays. When I appeared on Minneapolis’ KARE 11 News, I suggested caring for your skin from within with vitamin E tocotrienols. Whether you get them through diet or supplements, this super nutrient will nourish your skin, and help prevent wrinkles and other signs of aging. And you can feel good about Malaysian palm oil-derived tocotrienols. They are produced in a forward-thinking country that cares deeply about its wildlife, land and people.

You should always wear sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun, and make sure your children apply it, too. A natural choice is a mineral-based sunscreen. Containing titanium and/or zinc, they provide an immediate physical barrier to the sun’s rays, and are safe for youngsters (even infants). Chemical sunscreens need to be applied twenty minutes before sun exposure for maximum effectiveness.

Vitamin E tocotrienols help to protect your skin from within. This super-potent form of vitamin E helps fight UV damage that can accelerate premature aging and fine line formation. It is rich in antioxidants which may limit or delay cell damage. You can add tocotrienols to your diet by using a Malaysian palm cooking oil such as Carotino. Malaysian sustainable palm oil is also a healthy ingredient in many foods, such as Smart Balance peanut butter. Another option is to look for Malaysian palm oil-derived tocotrienol supplements.

For those of us concerned about sustainability, choosing Malaysian palm oil products is a smart choice. The Malaysian palm oil industry is highly regulated and adheres to strict sustainability guidelines. More than 50 percent of the land in this country is set aside for protected forest cover. And unlike annual oilseed crops, palm oil is an environmentally friendly perennial tree crop. The oil comes from the palm fruit which grows on the lush, green trees which live for 30 years. The trees produce fruit every three months. You can feel good about treating your skin to Malaysian sustainable palm oil.
