In an interview for, Registered Dietitian Felicia Stoler told reporter Jessica Belasco that some dietary fats, including Malaysian palm fruit oil, can be great for people who are trying to lose weight. Stoler, author of Living Skinny in Fat Genes, explained that new evidence suggests that saturated fat from plant sources may not be as bad for you as those from animal sources. In addition, dietary fats help to make you feel full (called increase satiety) and are necessary to deliver fat-soluble vitamins throughout your body.

Research indicates that the unique fatty acid balance in Malaysian palm fruit oil is actually cholesterol neutral. Red palm fruit oil also contains heart-healthy vitamin E tocotrienols and beta-carotenes.

Stoler says she maintains her healthy weight without denying herself. She even enjoys rich ice cream as a treat, but in small amounts.
