Myth buster teaches Houstonians a better way to care for their hearts

Appearing on two popular Houston morning TV shows, Nutrition Myth Buster Jonny Bowden, Ph.D., CNS, explained that cholesterol tests are ancient technology.  “Getting rid of cholesterol is like getting rid of forests to prevent fires,” he said to the CBS and Fox TV hosts. “Wouldn’t it be better to find out why they are combusting?” Viewers learned that oxidative damage and inflammation damage cholesterol. An anti-inflammatory diet focuses on single-ingredient foods and anti-inflammatory oils such as environmentally friendly Malaysian palm oil.

“Palm oil contains tocotrienols that are so nutritious they even sell them in supplements,” Bowden exclaimed.
