It’s likely many were shocked by Nutrition Myth Buster Jonny Bowden, Ph.D., CNS, whose article cautioned them to not accept “plant-based” at face value. Just as potato chips may be plant-based but are not healthy, Bowden explained that some plant-based oils such as Malaysian certified sustainable palm oil are socially and environmentally better than other plant-based oils. He also revealed why plant-based is often wrongfully confused with vegan, and why Paleo is actually a plant-based diet.
