As it becomes safer for us to gather for outdoor fun, how can we make our BBQs healthier? “It’s what we do to the food that makes it so bad for us,” explained Jonny Bowden, Ph.D., CNS during an interview on Arizona’s KTVK TV. With respect to BBQs, he said, “You can do so much damage control with one simple act: Make a marinade.” He marinates with Malaysian certified sustainable red palm oil because it blends well with the spices, and it helps protect meat when it’s exposed to high heat. He cautioned not to use vegetable oils. “Use good oils!” he stressed. “Palm oil is flavor neutral. In most parts of the world, palm oil is used as Americans use olive oil.”
